Open Sesame, Close Sesame

| 6. November 2015

There has been a constant stream of questioning directed at the SLV’s barrier effect. Could something maybe get through? Well to answer this question and illustrate the valve’s technology, we’d rather give it to you straight than tell you any stories … although there is one that’s actually quite appropriate – Ali Baba and the 40 thieves.

The gold treasure of the 40 thieves lay hidden in a cave, the entrance of which was blocked by a giant boulder and magically sealed. The boulder was almost three times as large as the cave entrance and immovable without the magic words.

Magically sealed

So how did the thieves do it? Without the magic words they would never have been able to enter the cave. The boulder was immensely heavy and pressed against the rock face with an tremendous amount of pressure, about 100 times stronger than the boulder was heavy. But with a simple “Open Sesame” the boulder would magically slide to the side.

No password, no entry?

This is exactly how the Bimek SLV functions … although it’s less magical and more practical. Here magic words are the safety mechanism and the “boulder” only weighs about eight milligrams, and although the surface of the valve components have production-related tiny grooves and seams, the “thieves” are simply not able to get their huge three micrometer-diameter heads through! This way the valve, even without rubber or silicone sealant, will forever be sperm-proof.

Another important fact – within the spermatic duct, sperm cells find themselves in an acidic rigidity. The acidity of the epididymal secretions prevents sperm cells from exerting themselves before ejaculation. With a closed valve, the motionless sperm cells are ejected sideward and broken down by macrophages. Not a single sperm cell has a chance in the slightest to get close to the boulder.

Open Sesame!

As soon as the valve is opened, sperm cells are given the go ahead and will be pumped toward the exit. Just before the prostate, the cells are covered in an acidic layer, a secretion from the seminal vesicles that gives the cells new energy. Only after this do they begin to fidget. Before it’s time to go, they get an extra tool for their journey in the prostate, a shovel they’ll use to dig through the soft layer of the cervix.

Not today, boys! Right now this layer is as hard as concrete. Maybe try again some other time! Here, we’re only open once a month.
